My split system air conditioner is leaking from the vents?

I have just noticed it now, it is very cold water coming out from where the air blows and it is dripping down onto my tiles inside my house.
The unit is only 2 years old, I have had the air con running since early this morning (so about 9 hours straight) but this is the first time it has ever leaked. I have just turned it off and cleaned up the water from below and it is not dripping anymore, what could be wrong with it?

The coil on the air handling unit is called an evaporator and the drain is the first thing I would check as long as it is still blowing air. Your evaporator coil could also be freezing over because of poor air flow or low freon level. A/C’s usually don’t have to run for 9 hours to cool the house down. I’m thinking you may need a new air filter – check this first – then check your drain for the evaporator make sure water is draining away, if not clean it – last check the A/C lineset the goes to the unit outside. Usually if the a/c has been running that long and is freezing over you’ll be able to see ice on the lineset where it comes out of the evaporator. If you have ice call a service tech.
