Does Lennox Lewis make the top 10 Heavyweights of all time list?
Lennox was a very underrated champion, but to the lack of superstar power in the heavyweight division at that time he may not get his just due, somedays I feel he is at #10, somedays I have him maybe 11 or 12, Anyone, Anyone?
All day long! If I see a “top ten heavies” list without LL on it. . . . I know it’s garbage.
Larry Holmes had the same hurdles to overcome as Lewis did. Holmes had to follow the great Ali, and ruled a division without any other superstars in it. Lewis, too, had to follow Tyson and Holyfield (beating older versions of them, but beating them) and was at his best when the division was less than stellar (although, personally, I think Lewis had harder opposition).
Lennox Lewis cleaned out the division all on his own, rematched and beat both men that knocked him out (McCall and Rahman), and put a downtown-style beatdown on Tyson that was a THING OF BEAUTY. True, Douglas and Holyfield did it first, but neither of them DISGRACED Mike to the extent of Lewis’s handiwork.
Depending on the day, I have Lewis somewhere between 8-10 on my list.
