My furnace isn’t responding properly to my heat requests.?
My 1 year old Ruud Silhoette Gas Furnace model # UGDG-10EAVEA is having some issues.
To me, it doesn’t seem as though it’s sensing the temperature i’m requesting properly. I put it at 20 degrees, it will wait until about 13 degrees until it kicks in, then warm the house up to about 16 and stop. If i crank it up really high it doesn’t even kick in at all after i wait for minutes.
I replaced the thermostat but that hasn’t changed anything. Not sure what to try next or things to look for in diagnosing the problem. Since i have heat, albeat, very little, i’d like to figure it out on my own before i call an expensive furnace technician.

Your furnace probably has electronic ignition. Remove the panel that you have access to the burners, valve, electronic module. There should be a main power switch installed on the furnace. Turn it off. Set your t-stat on high. Turn on the power switch. After the unit purges (about 30 seconds) you should see an orange glow at the burner orifice. If not, Turn off the power & remove the heater and inspect it for cracks. (Or use an ohm meter) If open, replace it. Very common problem. If the igniter is of the sparking variety, you need to change the circuit board. Most of the furnaces, there is d diagnostic code chart and an LED on the board. Follow the chart.
