Can an air conditioning unit be tested when it’s low 50’s outside?
We just had our furnace replaced (during mid-January) and before the installation started we asked the installer if he could test the AC unit after installation was complete (to make sure that he didn’t break it while installing the furnace). He said that it was not possible due to the fact that it’s winter and starting the AC could damage it. The temperature outside is low 50s.
He said we should wait until Summer to test the AC and if it’s broken then we can call his company and tell them that they did a furnace install and must have broken it. Is this guy telling me the truth about being unable to test the AC? I am sure that if we wait until Summer to test it, the company will deny all responsibility for breaking it.
What he is telling you is BS. He can at least bring the AC unit up to pressure if the temperature is above 40.
Call the AC unit’s manufacturer and talk to customer service. If they back there installers position, write a contract that states all the facts above and tell him you won’t pay him until he signs it.
